This is all about the exchange of feelings between people, about feelings themselves and their effects. Maybe I’m trying to hide the most obvious fact: this all comes from my own feelings and relationships. It’s an attempt to understand what’s inside and outside me, considering two main questions. The first one concerning the expression on feelings: Is it possible to talk about feelings, despite the impossibility to talk about feelings? The second one concerning the means to do so: Can performatic actions and sculptural objects activate the interpersonal space? The implementation of my investigation is reflected in an art installation composed of an EP record, some ceramic recipients, a painting, a performance, some plastic posters, and some modular structures.
Sarah Ahmed, in "The Cultural Politics of Emotion", describes three qualities of the exchange of affects between object and subject: stickiness, moulding, and circulation. She uses these physical qualities to talk about intangible phenomenon. I find interesting that this qualities match the way I have used the materials for this installation. There was only one quality missing for me so I made it myself: transparency. This way, I have associated each of the pieces to one of these four qualities due to conceptual or material analogy.
