AMITY is a poetic video essay that explores the emotional landscape of friendship breakups—a subject often dismissed, silenced, or overlooked. Through evocative imagery and a first-person voice-over narration, the piece invites the viewer into the intimate terrain of relational rupture, grief, and memory.
While romantic separations are widely acknowledged and narrated, the end of a friendship is still surrounded by a cultural taboo. AMITY seeks to give visibility to this invisible mourning. It does so not through confession, but through fragments: gestures, places, shared rituals now estranged.
The voice, speaking from within the wound, navigates the ambiguous space between affection and distance, presence and absence. It questions the scripts we inherit for relationship codes and what happens when these scripts fall apart. Rather than offering closure, AMITY lingers in the aftertaste of friendship: tender, bitter, and unresolved.
